14A – Halfway Reflection
Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that
you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this
course?
I developed behaviors like scheduling and planning in order to
view the week’s agenda. This way, all deadlines were written down and I could
space out assignments or studying throughout the week.
Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or
two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you
feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months?
What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
When I
had assignments piled up and did not know how I would finish, I felt as if I would
not be able to submit any. What pulled me through was knowing I had finished
others similar to them, and could do so again.
Three tips. What are three tips you would
offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support
tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
My three tips are: do assignments ahead of time, try to
relate them to your own personal life, and don’t assume they can be completed
with only your current knowledge- find outside sources.
Hi Adriana, I completely agreed that it is best in this class to work ahead on assignments if you can. I only wish sometimes I would have known that at the beginning of class to ask to be grouped with the folks that wanted to work ahead. It is frustrating sometimes when you want to go ahead an do your peer reviews but your peers have waited until the day the assignment is due to post to their blog. It leaves that one last assignment hanging out there to worry about!
