5A- Identifying Local Opportunities

Alachua County Recycling Efforts Persevere Despite Declining Market https://www.wuft.org/news/2020/01/15/alachua-county-recycling-efforts-persevere-despite-declining-market/ Alachua county residents are not educated on what items are considered recyclable. Although the county’s recycling is ranked third highest in the state, the items that get placed in recycle bins cannot be recycled and have to be manually sorted out. This ultimately raises domestic contamination rates. The problem presented is that Alachua county residents are not informed on what constitutes a recyclable item, therefore raising the efforts needed to sort through collection and reduce contamination. The county has the problem. Although the residents are the actors throwing different objects in the recycling bin, the county has to mobilize efforts and strategies to counteract this and educate the people.   ‘Micromobility Devices’ — Also Known As Scooters — Could Come To Gainesv...

The projects were centered on finding a problem, recognizing the people who are affected by it, and developing a product or service catering to them. Entrepreneurship and its relation to market, product development, and sales were all explored. I enrolled in ENT3003 as it’s required for my Innovation Academy minor. I hope to fulfill the minor. Above is a presentation on a product my Innovation group developed aiming to aid children to learn a second language before attending school.
