19A- Idea Napkin No.2

1)  You.  Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life? My experience comes from Innovation courses focused on marketing, product development, market research, and consumer feedback. I also have a minor in political science and anthropology, which aids in understanding behavior. This business would become a large part of my life, as running a company requires constant supervision and new data to reflect any consumer changes. 2)  What are you offering to customers?  Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).  The product is a magnetized calendar that can be placed on the fridge, and brings different small magnets with images of fruits on them. These magnets have a slider, which allows the customer to place the i...

17A- Elevator Pitch No. 2

Image
I added a Value Proposition, which I failed to have in my first video. This was one of the most important and useful feedback. I also specified my target audience. In my first elevator pitch, while I may have included this information, it wasn’t the first thing which I mentioned or as prominent. In addition, I stated the question which I aimed to answer.

18A- Create a Custom Avatar

1. What kind of hobbies does your customer have? What kind of car do they tend to drive? (What color is it?) What TV shows do they watch? Do they have children? Are any of them adopted? What are their favorite books, and who are their favorite politicians? How old are they? How old do they feel? And so on. The richer the detail, the better.  My customer avatar is 19 to 23, inexperienced with household chores/duties, inexperienced in domestic knowledge that isn’t widely known, and is on a budget. They tend to drive scooters, economical cars, or environmentally friendly cars. This can be a Volkswagen Golf. They watch Netflix TV Shows, The Bachelor, and Grey’s Anatomy. They don’t have children. They are still in university, or recently graduated. They are not married and are still learning how to do household things, or are uninterested in learning and memorizing this information. They are trying to stay healthy- either out of habit, concern for health when they are the ones cookin...

16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?

Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique.   I am a college student, like the main demographic of the product, and can understand their needs and wants. I am majoring in Political Science with a minor in Anthropology. As such, I am constantly studying human behavior in different contexts. This can be applied to understanding beyond the political into the social context, or why and how people buy items. This major also necessitates research, which is useful in studying buyer behavior, wants, and alternatives. Due to other Innovation courses, I have experience developing a product, business model, and considering the economic aspect. These courses also aided in decision making and problem solving in relation to products, target demographic, and models. Interview the five people who know you the best.     Interview Transcript 1: Me: Can you name some human capital I have? Like any skills or experiences that you think helps s...

15A- Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No.2

Begin with alternative evaluation.  In the last case exercise, you determined how customers sought information related to solving their need. The outcome of this step is to produce a set of alternatives. Customers pick from among this set of alternatives. In this step, your job is to figure out how they do their picking. Does price matter the most? Does quality? Does style? Is there more than one factor that is important to your customer segment? I interviewed a business major who cooks often, and is the only one in his apartment to do so. For him, the price matters most. This catches his attention and allows him to either continue looking at the product, or move on if too expensive. He also considers quality to be important, as a cheap looking or bad quality product would be displayed and frequently annoy him. Quality, however, remains at a lower importance along with the style when compared to the price. The style is what may originally catch his eye, but the price makes the f...

14A – Halfway Reflection

Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?  I developed behaviors like scheduling and planning in order to view the week’s agenda. This way, all deadlines were written down and I could space out assignments or studying throughout the week. Tenaciousness is also about attitude.  Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? When I had assignments piled up and did not know how I would finish, I felt as if I would not be able to submit any. What pulled me through was knowing I had finished others similar to them, and could do so again. Three tips.  What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity...
